イチゴ栽培日記５ ローズベリー・レッド初収穫のはずが…
赤い花が咲く四季なりイチゴ🍓「ローズベリー・レッド」の栽培記録第５弾。
今回は久しぶりに英語でも書いてみました。
ローズベリー・レッドの実２つが赤くなり十分熟していたので、
1/27の夕方に収穫すると決めました。普段はベランダに置いているのですが、
収穫する前に母がもっと良いアングルで写真を撮りたいからと、
玄関の外に持っていきました。午後２時半のことでした。
I found that the two fruits of Roseberry Red turned red and ripened enough.
So, I planned to pick them this evening. I usually place the pot in the balcony
but my mother moved the pot outside the front door to take photos
from better angle before I pick the fruits. It was half past tow p.m.
４時に仕事が終わってすぐ、私はローズベリー・レッドの写真を撮りたくて
外に出ました。（今月も引き続き在宅勤務です。）
すると、実が両方とも無くなっていて、１つは赤い部分が無く、
白い部分しか残っていないではありませんか😲😲！！
I stepped outside to take photos of Roseberry Red
shortly after four p.m. which was soon I finished work.
(I continue working from home this month.)
I found both of the fruits were missing and one of them,
only the red part was missing and only the white one was left😲😲 !!
母が取ったのかと思い、取ったかどうか怒って聞きました。
（食べたとは思いませんでしたが、お皿に載せたイチゴの写真を撮るために
摘んだのでは、と疑ったのです。）
すると驚いてこう言いました。「違うわよ、あなたに断りもなくそんなことするわけ
ないでしょ！」と。私たちは鳥が盗んだに違いないという結論に達しました。
鳥🐦がイチゴを好んで食べることを知っており、防鳥🐦（または防虫🐛）ネットを
持っているのですが、冬は鳥が活動的ではないと思ってしまい今回使っていませんでした。
また、こんな短時間で鳥がイチゴを見つけて食べるとは予期していなかったのです😢
しかしそれは間違いで、油断していました。
もしベランダにイチゴのポットを戻してくれるよう母にお願いしていたら、
鳥🐦が狙いに来ても気づけたでしょう。
ことわざ「油断大敵」を身をもって学んだのでした！
I thought my mother picked them and angrily I asked my mother if she picked
the fruits.
(I didint think she ate them, but I thought she plucked them to take photos
on the plate.) she was surprised and said, “No, I never do it without
your permission!”. We concluded that a bird (or birds) ate the fruits.
I know that birds like to eat strawberry, and I have nets for saving birds
and/or insects. But this time, I didn’t use it because I thought birds are not
active in winter.
I found it’s wrong and I was careless. If I had requested my mother
to give the strawberry pot to the balcony, I could have noticed when a bird
aimed at strawberry.
Then I learned the proverb, “Careless is the greatest enemy”
through my own experience!
