映画『マンハッタン花物語』（原題：Bed of Roses）感想 ～切り花を長持ちさせる裏技～

今回は、花が沢山出てくるラブストーリー『マンハッタン花物語』と、

その映画の中で言っていた「切り花を長持ちさせる裏技」を紹介します。 

I will introduce “Bed of Roses”, the love story which you can see many flowers and a tip of keeping cut flowers fresh mentioned in the movie this time.

マンハッタンの銀行に勤めるリサは仕事熱心で、重役に抜擢され将来を期待されている。

ある日、唯一の身内の訃報を知らされ悲しみにくれる彼女宛に、

オフィスへ匿名で花束が届く。送り主に心当たりがなく、友達に尋ねても送っていないと

言われる。そこで、花を配達したルイスに依頼主を聞こうと会いに行き、

やがて二人は親しくなっていく。

Lisa who works for the bank in Manhattan is enthusiastic about her job.  And also, she is selected as an executive and is expected future success.  One day, she receives a bouquet of flowers from an anonymous person at her office when she is deeply grieved at the sole relative’s death.  She asks her friends about the bouquet because she is not sure the sender, but they say that they don’t send it.  Then, she visits Lewis, the flower deliverer to ask who requested the delivery and they get along before long.

感想  my impressions

この映画はロマンティックだと感じる人と、リサに思いを寄せる人の行動が

ストーカーみたいであり得ないと感じる人とで評価が真二つに割れているようです。

私はリサの方に少しモヤモヤしてしまいました。もっと彼女の心情や背景が

描かれていたら、共感できたように思います。リサ役を演じたメアリー・スチュアート・

マスターソンが出演する映画『恋しくて』の方が、キュンキュンするラブストーリーで

万人受けすると思います。

ルイスが花の配達人になった理由には、大いに共感できました。

また、それを裏付けるシーンには、ほんのり幸せな気分になりました。

ある登場人物の秘密基地みたいな庭園に趣があり、緑の多い街並みが美しく、

雰囲気を楽しめたという点では満足です😀

「切り花を長持ちさせる裏技」 a tip to keep cut flowers fresh

映画の中で花の配達人ルイスが、切り花を長持ちさせる方法を簡単に言っていました。

日本でもこの裏技を知っている人も一部いるようですが、もう少し詳しく調べましたので

紹介します。

 その方法とは、「花を生ける水に炭酸飲料を加える」です。日本の某テレビ番組では、

水と炭酸飲料の割合を「水500ｍｌに対しサイダー2割（100ml）程度」

と紹介していたようです。

炭酸飲料に含まれる糖分が栄養になり、炭酸ガス（二酸化炭素）が

菌の繁殖を抑えるのです。切り花の延命剤の代用になるというわけです。

ただし、コーラのように色のついた炭酸飲料は花にとっては酸性が強すぎるので

使わないようにしましょう。

気が抜けたものでも水に炭酸が溶け込んでいるので、大丈夫です。

残してしまったときにお勧めです。

Lewis, the flower deliverer briefly said how to keep cut flowers fresh in the movie.  Some people in Japan seems to know this tip, but I researched more details and I’ll introduce it. 

The way is “to add soda to water for flowers”.

In a Japanese TV show introduced that the ratio of soda to water is “500ml water: soda 20% (100ml)”.

The sugar in soda become nutrition for flowers and the carbon-rich gas (carbon dioxide) in it suppresses germs growth.  That is to say, soda can be substitute for floral life extender.  Note, however, that colored soda like Coca Cola’ s acidity is too strong for flowers and you should not to use it.

You can add the soda which gas is redeuced because the gas is melted in the water.  I recommend you to use it in the case you leave some of it.
